Major obstacles expected in Décarie at the end of the week

A very busy segment of the Décarie Expressway will be avoided this weekend, as major work will force the closure of several southbound exits and lanes.

These closures, explains the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, are required to “replace a section of beam on the overpass on Rue de la Savane”, as well as to repair beams on the overpasses on Rue Des Jockeys and Rue Ferrier.

Consequently, from Friday 11:59 p.m. and until Monday 5:30 a.m., the Décarie Expressway will be closed southbound to traffic, from the Décarie interchange to the entrance leading to Jean-Talon Street. The ramp from the Metropolitan Expressway heading west towards Décarie Sud will also be closed, as will the one connecting Marcel-Laurin Boulevard to these lanes.
Des Jockeys and Ferrier streets will also be closed for part of the weekend.
“Episodes of congestion are to be expected,” warns the ministry, which recommends that motorists who still want to travel in this sector “allow more time to get to their destination.” The detour routes will be marked with temporary signage, it is indicated.
At the junction of two of the busiest highways in Quebec, the Métropolitaine and Décarie, the Décarie interchange is used every day by nearly 360,000 vehicles.
