M1 Traffic RECAP: Northbound and Southbound chaos as incidents spark Bank Holiday delays | UK | News

The M1 suffered long traffic delays on Bank Holiday Monday evening following two separate crashes affecting both northbound and southbound lanes. There have been several significant disruptions on the northern side of the M1. All lanes were closed between J36 (Hoyland) and J37 (Barnsley) due to the incident and traffic returned to normal. Access to northbound J36 at Hoyland was also closed and clearance took place slightly earlier.

Traffic congestion is being reported northbound between J6A and J8 near Hemel Hempstead and normal conditions are expected between 23:15 and 23:30 on May 4. Additionally, a vehicle fire within J8 closed all lanes and normal traffic is expected between 12:15 and 12:30 on May 5.
