Thousands of fire ants formed rafts from the city of Texas, which floats in flood waters and reported gross behavior with the inhabitants using their bodies.

Broken insects that may cause painful stings are common in Texas. However, when the underground nests are inundated, they sink their teeth into each other, lock their limbs and form raft to survive.
“This is called a self -organizing or self -unifying process, and this is something that social insects do,” he said.
“There are many structures that ants have made similarly. For example, army ants will make bridges in the rivers.”
