Indonesia rocked by magnitude 6.2 earthquake in Sumba region, east of Bali

Indonesia was shaken by a “strong” earthquake of magnitude 6.2 near Bali.
The earthquake was recorded at 14:44 Malaysian local time on May 5 in the Sumba region, east of Bali and 198 km southeast of Bima island.
In the statement made by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, it was stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was at 10.1° South latitude and 119.5° East longitude and at a depth of 10 km.
The ministry’s statement continued: “There is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.”
Geoscience Australia revised the magnitude of the earthquake to 5.8.
Media Selangor, the official media agency of the Selangor State Government in Malaysia, reported that the earthquake was felt in various parts of Sumba, including Waingapu, Tambolaka, Waibakul and Waikabubak.
Rahmat Triyono, acting earthquake and tsunami director of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, said in a statement to the press: “Looking at the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake is a shallow earthquake.”
