Rubio to lead White House briefing amid Kentucky Derby jockey memes

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has become one of the Trump administration’s most visible multiple officials, amassing a string of additional titles that have fueled viral memes, and he’s poised to add another prominent role when he steps up to the podium at a White House press briefing on Tuesday.

“As an invaluable member of President Trump’s national security team, Secretary Rubio will provide updates on the humanitarian achievements of Project Freedom and other foreign policy priorities,” White House Deputy Chief Press Secretary Anna Kelly told Fox News Digital.

Tuesday’s news conference will be press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s first since taking maternity leave in late April ahead of the birth of her second child.

While Leavitt is on maternity leave, the White House plans to have a rotating cast of Trump administration officials, such as Vice President J.D. Vance and even Trump himself, take the podium.

The secretary was a powerful figure in the Trump administration and held numerous official and unofficial titles publicly available, prompting a parade of memes on social media.

For example, Rubio was appointed acting administrator of the U.S. Administration for International Development (USAID) shortly after he was sworn in at the State Department. He was also selected to serve as acting archivist of the United States for nearly a year, and recently handed over that position in February.

Rubio is still serving as interim national security adviser, a position he has held since the departure of Michael Waltz in May.

Rubio took social media by storm; Critics and allies of the administration have been sharing viral memes showing photos of Rubio sitting in the Oval Office, wearing a variety of outfits to suit any new job role he might take, such as Spirit Airlines pilot, White House beekeeper or Kentucky Derby jockey.

Over the weekend, Rubio went viral with a video of himself stepping behind the DJ booth at a family wedding and pumping up the crowd.

The video, posted on channel X by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, shows Rubio wearing headphones and standing behind a DJ setup, leaning over the controls as music plays and guests dance nearby.

At several points he pumped his fist, nodded along to the beat, and appeared to point to the next track, drawing cheers from people gathered around the booth.
