Russia-Ukraine War: Putin Open To Negotiations, Lays Down Major Prerequisite | World News

New Delhi: According to media reports referring to Russian state media, Russian President Vladimir Putin said it was open to peace talks with Ukraine, but continued to be solid in achieving the key goals of Moscow.
“President Putin has repeatedly expressed his desire to make a peaceful decision as soon as possible to the conflict in Ukraine, Pes Peskov said. “However, this is a complex and long process that requires significant effort.”
Peskov stressed that Russia’s goals in conflict remain unchanged. “The most important thing for us is to achieve our goals. These goals are open and cannot be bargained,” he added.
Peskov also discussed the latest comments of US President Donald Trump and said that the world is sometimes accustomed to “hard” discourse. However, he acknowledged that Trump also expressed his desire to work for a peace agreement with Russia, a feeling that Moscow was constructive.
The statements came because he pointed out Kiev’s desire to continue his peace talks since the beginning of June. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his media reports that the Secretary of Security Council Rustem Umerov proposed a new negotiation tour next week. Zelenskyy said, “The momentum of negotiations should accelerate.”
Meanwhile, Trump, who spoke on Monday, announced a new military aid to Ukraine and warned about new sanctions targeting Russian exports if Moscow did not accept a peace agreement in the next 50 days.
Previous negotiations between the two sides, including two rounds held in Istanbul, could not produce a ceasefire. However, they led to agreements on the return of the prisoners’ stock exchanges and the return of the bodies of fallen soldiers.
Since both sides reiterate their commitment to diplomacy, albeit with solid conditions, the coming weeks can be critical in determining whether significant progress towards peace is possible.
