Michael Vaughan says wait to appoint new England selector is ‘ridiculous’

Former captain Michael Vaughan said it was “ridiculous” that England had yet to appoint a new national selector.
The process of determining the successor to Luke Wright, who announced his resignation on January 22 and left after the T20 World Cup that ended in March, has reached the final stage with the interviews for the position held this week.
There have already been four rounds of action in the County Championship and England are preparing to name their squad for the first Test against New Zealand in two weeks.
“It’s ridiculous that they announced the selector so late,” Vaughan said on the Stick to Cricket podcast.
“I wanted the selectman to be there on April 1, to go out, take a look, gather information.
“Luke Wright quit at the Australian back end, we knew, didn’t we?
“It’s a long time to find someone, four months.”
