Iranian state media published a threatening message to Donald Trump over his ongoing efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He said on social media platform Truth Social that Operation Epic Rage would end if Iran “agreed to give what was agreed”, which he described as a “big assumption”.
Writing about the latest developments, Trump added that the US blockade would also “allow the Strait of Hormuz to be OPEN TO EVERYONE, including Iran.”
He said: “If Iran agrees to deliver what was agreed upon, which is perhaps a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Rage will end and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Strait of Hormuz to be OPEN TO EVERYONE, including Iran.”
He added: “If they do not agree, the bombing will begin, and unfortunately it will be at a much higher level and intensity than before. Thank you for your interest in this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
His comments came just hours after Axios reported that the United States and Iran were close to a deal that would end their two-month war.
Citing two US officials, the news outlet reported that Washington expects responses from Tehran on several key points within the next 48 hours, which will form the basis of a one-page memo.
