Neymar Apologizes for Rift with Robinho’s Son at Santos Training

Sao Paulo: Neymar with his Santos teammate Robinho Jr. He apologized for a disagreement with him on the training ground, an incident that could further hurt his chances of playing for Brazil at the World Cup.
Robinho Jr., the 18-year-old son of former Brazil star Robinho, claimed that 34-year-old Neymar slapped him during team training this week.
On Tuesday night, Neymar scored in Santos’ 1-1 draw against Paraguay’s Deportivo Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana, but media attention was focused on what he said about the brawl earlier this week.
“These things happen in football,” Neymar told reporters. “We had to solve this. It was a disagreement we had during training, I reacted and exaggerated a little. After apologizing, we talked in the locker room immediately and came to an agreement.”
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals, has not played for the national team since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October 2023.
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to announce his World Cup squad on May 18.
