Op Sindoor Showed India’s Resolve Against Terror: PM Modi

Celebrating the first year of the operation, Prime Minister Modi praised the courage, precision and professionalism displayed by the Indian armed forces following the Pahalgam terror attack.

PM Modi also said that the operation highlights the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of the Indian armed forces, while also demonstrating the impact of increased partnership between services and India’s drive for self-reliance in defense production.

“Today, a year later, we remain as firm as ever in our determination to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem,” the Prime Minister said.

Meanwhile, PM Modi changed the display image on X to “Operation Sindoor” as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces on the anniversary of the military operation.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation was designed as a targeted military operation aimed at eliminating terrorist infrastructure within the Line of Control and Pakistan.

According to officials, intelligence data identified nine major terrorist camps that were later targeted during the operation. India’s response relied on detailed planning and intelligence-driven executions, along with efforts to minimize collateral damage and prevent civilian casualties.

Following the attacks, Pakistan launched retaliatory drone and UCAV attacks targeting India’s air bases and logistics infrastructure. However, Indian air defense systems have successfully thwarted the threats using a multi-layered defense network supported by the Integrated Command and Control Strategy (ICCS).

Operation Sindoor saw extensive coordination between the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy, supported by various government agencies and departments.

The Indian Air Force played a key role in carrying out precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure, including operations targeting Nur Khan Air Base and Rahimyar Khan Air Base in Pakistan.

India’s air defense network, which includes the indigenously developed Akash missile system as well as legacy platforms such as Pechora and OSA-AK, has helped neutralize air threats during retaliatory strikes.

The Indian Army also conducted both offensive and defensive operations; It used advanced air defense systems against unmanned aerial vehicles and stray munitions launched from the border.

Meanwhile, the Indian Navy has established dominance at sea by deploying a Carrier Battle Group equipped with MiG-29K fighter jets and airborne early warning helicopters. The naval presence acted as a strong deterrent and restricted air operations off Pakistan’s west coast.

The Border Security Force (BSF) also played a key role during the operation by foiling an infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. BSF personnel neutralized at least two infiltrators and seized arms and ammunition during the encounter.

Officials described Operation Sindoor as not only a tactical success but also a strategic demonstration of India’s military preparedness and coordinated defense capability.
