A royal expert has claimed palace insiders fear King Charles’ bid to reunite with Prince Harry could backfire because it could make the Sussexes’ private conversations public. Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe said the King was in an “impossible position” as both he and Prince William were wary of reaching out at a time when trust is at an all-time low. Concern centers on the danger of Harry and Meghan Markle revealing personal information or dropping more bombshells about the Royal Family if contact is resumed.

Mr Larcombe said: Mirror Even a simple phone call suggesting a meeting during Charles’ visit to the US last week could be made public by Harry, underlining the collapse in trust.

She said: “She and Prince William can’t reach out to Harry and go public because they’re afraid of him. That’s a big hurdle. If they continue to communicate, they run the risk of Harry and Meghan revealing more personal details and dropping more bombshells about what’s going on. That’s where the fear lies for the Royal Family.”

“If Charles calls Harry and says, ‘I’m coming to the US, I’d like to see you,’ the danger is that Harry will make it public. That loss of trust is the most important thing.”

Relations between the family have been at an impasse following the couple’s 2021 Oprah interview and the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, in 2023. Royal expert Richard Palmer acknowledged there remained concerns within the family that Harry or Meghan might say something embarrassing, leaving both parties upset over the unresolved dispute.
