Why the way we think about ‘The Future’ has changed

Having previously looked at how Anglophone culture is steeped in nostalgia, the question arises: what does this say about our present experience of time and our understanding of the future?
The earliest recorded organized ideas about the past and the future come from philosophy and religion; Babylonians in Mesopotamia and divination in China and Egypt. Greek and Roman stoics, like the major eastern religions Buddhism and Hinduism, believed in a cyclical form of time.
