“Barefoot Crusader” to Wear Shoes After TMC Government’s Exit

berhampore: Remind the protesting high court lawyer with shaved head now Barackpore BJP MLA Kaustav Chatterjee! He led the TMC government that promised not to keep his hair until Mamata Banerjee’s downfall and he always shaved his head in protest! Like Kaustav Chatterjee, barefoot hawker Mujibur Seikh, too, from Muktarpur village in Domkal assembly in Murshidabad district, has vowed not to wear shoes until the downfall of Mamata Banerjee, who is ruling the TMC government in West Bengal!

Now Mujibur Seikh is ready to put on the boots after seven years of long fight against corruption on Saturday. Mujibur Seikh, a street vendor by trade, said, “I was very disturbed to see rampant corruption during Corona period like migrant workers having to lose their jobs, Teacher losing their job etc. and no work being done without money being cut and ruling Trinamul congress leaders looting money from poor villagers, so I vowed that I will never wear shoes till the fall of Mamata Banerjee led TMC government! , Though I have never belonged to any political party but I have always raised my voice. I have fought against corruption.” And I faced many obstacles and people mocked me as a “barefoot peddler”, some even threatened to kill me and put me in jail! But I never broke my promise, even though I suffered a lot during the winter and rainy seasons for seven years. “Once upon a time, I was very depressed that I could never wear shoes again! Now Mujibur Seikh, after the swearing-in ceremony of the anti-Trinamul convention of the West Bengal state government on Saturday, washed his bare feet with milk and announced that he will wear shoes again after a long gap of seven years and distribute Khichuri to his neighbours.

Mujibur Seikh hoped that this new state government would be free from corruption and impartial to every citizen and serve good governance, if they failed, Mujibur Seikh promised that I would be barefoot again.
