Former Minister and YSRCP district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy staged a protest outside Podalakur police station in Nellore on Saturday, demanding the removal of a Sub-Inspector (SI) for allegedly beating up a party worker without any reason.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr. Govardhan Reddy said: “YSRCP leader Hari from Navoorpalli village of Podalakur mandal in the district questioned the Assistant Engineer (AE) of the Electrical department for taking a bribe of ₹40,000 to provide connectivity to a farm.”

“SI Hanif summoned Hari to the police station, beat him badly and threatened YSRCP workers. There are many allegations against the SI and he needs to be removed from office immediately,” the former Minister said.

“As soon as YSRCP comes to power, we will take action against police officers who cause trouble to party workers without any justification,” he warned.

Mr. Kakani canceled the protest after the DSP assured him that he would launch an investigation into the incident and take necessary action.
