Traffic chaos on M6 as crash disruption to last for ‘four hours’ | UK | News
Motorists are being warned of delays of up to four hours following a collision on the M6 near Preston. The incident is believed to have occurred on the southbound highway between junctions 31 and 29.
National Highways has confirmed that “normal traffic conditions” are not expected to continue between 12.45pm and 1am. Photos circulating on Facebook show drivers stopped at the central reservation and at least one lane appeared to be blocked.
A National Highways spokesman said: “The M6 southbound between J31-J30 in Lancashire has been stopped due to a traffic collision. There are currently delays in excess of 20 minutes with 2 miles of congestion.”
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported: “All traffic temporarily stopped due to accident, two vehicles involved on M6 South following J31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury).”
