Chaos in UK town as stolen tractor driven ‘at full throttle’ into house | UK | News

The pair are currently being held in police custody for questioning as a cordon remains in place at Priory Road in Whinney Banks, Middlesbrough, where the shocking incident took place. Homeowners who were evacuated from their properties were able to return, but two households were unable to return while structural inspections were ongoing.
The red tractor and baler stolen from farmer Ian Tate of Crossfield Farm in Crathorne, North Yorks, on Friday night were driven into the house at around 1.35am on Saturday, May 9. Upon the notice of a neighbor who watched the incident, the police quickly arrived at the scene.
TeessideLive reports The Cleveland Fire Department also attended, and Cleveland Police are requesting video and security cameras from anyone who witnessed the incident, as well as from the farming community who may have noticed unusual activity in recent days.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector John Bonner, said: “Our investigation is progressing at pace with several inquiries which have led to two arrests.
“I am aware of video footage circulating on social media of activity on farms in Cleveland, North Yorkshire and Durham prior to the incident and I would urge the owners to report this to us.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to appeal directly to farm and land owners to contact us if they have any CCTV on their land in the last seven days or information regarding trespassers or suspicious activity. Police presence will continue to be increased in the area to provide reassurance to the community.”
The force said officers, along with partner agencies, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding what happened. Police will continue to work with local authorities to ensure structural engineers assess the property and make it safe.
“Due to the scale of this work, the stage will likely need to remain in place for the next few days,” the statement said. “Specialist forensic teams will carry out detailed examinations, including the tractor involved.”
