On Monday, Sarma stated that the new state cabinet is likely to have 18 to 19 ministers.
He said talks on the final formation of the cabinet will take place only after the arrival of BJP national president Nitin Nabin in Guwahati later in the night.
“There is no written list yet of MPs to be included in the cabinet. The new Assam cabinet is likely to have around 18 to 19 members and all the names are in my mind right now,” Sarma said.
He added: “I cannot say anything before a proper discussion with Nitin Nabin as I have to follow the overall guidance of the party. Nitin Nabin is expected to arrive in Guwahati around 10 pm on Monday, following which important talks regarding cabinet appointments and portfolio distribution are expected to take place.”
“BJP national president Nitin Nabin will reach Guwahati at 10 pm today and only after that I will be able to discuss cabinet berths. As I will be accompanying him from the airport to his accommodation, the discussion will continue during this time and is expected to be concluded by then,” he added.Sarma said even MLAs selected for ministerial berths will be informed only on Tuesday morning.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to begin around 11 am on Tuesday and is expected to witness the presence of senior NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
“The ceremony will be attended by Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 22 states. Along with NDA Chief Ministers, Mizoram Chief Minister will also attend.”
Diplomats, religious leaders and industrialists from all over the country are also expected to attend the ceremony.
Sarma said that his government’s normal office functioning will officially begin on May 13.

He said that the wages of tea garden workers will be increased to Rs 500 per day in a phased manner.
“For the last 10 years, the NDA government has been working for the holistic development of the Cha Shramiks of Assam, the backbone of our 200-year-old tea heritage. In #NDA3.0, we will further strengthen the lives and livelihoods of every Cha Shramik with a phased wage increase to Rs 500,” Sarma said.
Sarma continued: “Assam’s land, identity and future are non-negotiable. After saving 1.5 lakh bigha of land from encroachment, NDA 3.0 is moving forward with a firm resolve to get back 5 lakh bigha more for the people of Assam. Because for us, Jati, Mati, Bheti come first.”
