Alaska Airlines resumes operations after IT outage

(Reuters) -US Carrier Alaska Airlines continued operations late on Sunday after pointing out that he had stopped his fleet for more than a year after he had grounded all his flights for about three hours due to a CT deduction.
The company requested a system -wide ground stop for Alaska and Horizon Air Flights on Sunday (0300 GMT) Pacific (0300 GMT on Monday).
“As you reproduce our plane and crew, it will probably have an impact on our flights. It will take some time to normalize our general operations.” He said.
Alaska did not immediately specify the nature of IT cut.
In April 2024, Alaska grounded the entire fleet due to a problem calculating the weight and balance of the aircraft in the system.
Alaska Air Group holds a 238 Boeing 737 aircraft and 87 Embraer 175 aircraft according to its website.
In June, the Hawaiian airlines of Alaska Air Group said that some IT systems were broken by a hack. Alaska Air Group, this event is still determined the financial impact, he said.
The news of Alaska’s IT problems comes at a time when technology companies warn the “scattered spider” hacking group of Google and Palo Alto Networks to the aviation industry.
Canada’s Westjet airlines were influenced by a non -cyber event in June, while Australia’s Qantas experienced a data violation in which a cyber hacker reached millions of customers in July. However, these events did not affect flight operations.
Microsoft said on Sunday that there are “active attacks” in the server software used by government institutions and businesses.
Alaska did not respond immediately to a request looking for a comment on whether the deduction was related to the Microsoft announcement.
