Rebel Wilson’s film The Deb lands US deal as it relaunches in Cannes

The film has combined news of the US deal with the announcement that the film will be “re-released” at this year’s Cannes market, clearly hoping it will repeat the success enjoyed by popular Australian films of the 1990s. According to the UK trade magazine ScreenSources in Cannes say the film attracted great interest during its debut in Toronto. This was blown away when Wilson posted a series of angry criticisms against the film’s co-producers and McInnes on social media. MacInnes is currently suing Wilson for defamation in the Sydney Federal Court.
However, there was no hint of caution from the president of Protagonist Picks, a boutique subsidiary of Protagonist Pictures, in an article in the magazine. Diversity announced the latest agreement.
