‘Absolutely stupid’: NSW top cop slams daredevil who scaled Sydney’s tallest building

Police have punished a daredevil who climbed Sydney’s tallest building without any safety equipment.
A man filmed himself climbing under a construction site at 55 Pitt St in Sydney, climbing a 300-metre crane towering over the city.
The man had no safety equipment on his way to the construction site and was not noticed by security guards.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the move was “absolutely stupid”.
“There is no activity on social media that puts yourself at that kind of risk,” he said.

Footage of the brave man shows him scaling the construction site before facing the city.
Speaking to 9News, he said he couldn’t describe the feeling of sitting on top of the building.
“The fact that I was there alone above everyone else in the city is truly indescribable,” he said.
He said he had climbed the building four times before and denied the move was “absolutely stupid”.

“There are a lot of things that are absolutely stupid,” he said.
“People driving can be absolutely stupid.
“At the end of the day, more people crash their cars than fall off cranes.”
NSW Police are aware of the vision but have received no reports of the daredevil’s actions.
