Angel Reese embraces villain role in Dallas, flexing and taunting fans in Atlanta Dream’s win over Wings

Angel Reese has never had a problem embracing the villain role.

And during Tuesday night’s away game against the Dallas Wings, the Atlanta Dream forward went all out.

After grabbing an offensive rebound and ending traffic early in Atlanta’s 77-72 victory, Reese quickly yawned, made the “too small” gesture, and then gave even louder encouragement to the booing Dallas fans.

“ATL Barbie” looked like she was having a lot of fun there.

As Reese continued to troll the Wings with more “too small” celebrations throughout the night after grabbing offensive rebounds, the Dallas fans booed him.

To be fair, Reese had warned everyone that this version of him was coming.

After his Dream debut on Saturday (he still had a double-double but admitted he wasn’t happy with some parts of his offensive performance), Reese said he expects a quick recovery.

“I mean, it was tough for me personally, but being able to compete at both ends of the floor is something I’ve always known,” Reese said before Tuesday’s game. “If the shot doesn’t fall, I might go back to defense, but I know I’ll have a better night tonight.”

It certainly seemed to speed things up.

Reese finished the game with 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4-of-4 free throws as Atlanta improved to 2-0 on the season. Allisha Gray led the Dream’s offense with 26 points, while Jordin Canada and Rhyne Howard scored 19 and 14 points, respectively.

After the match, Reese shared the final score chart on her Instagram story and talked about the Dream’s record.

“2-0,” he wrote, “ROAD KILLS.”

Although Reese won’t be winning over rival fan bases anytime soon, he seems to be fitting in just fine with his new teammates.

“He’s a very positive person,” Gray said after Tuesday’s win. “No matter what situation we are in in the game, he always brings us together and lets us know that we have succeeded. He is a very hard worker and also a very good person.

“Once you get to know him and really connect with him, he’s a great person, a really nice person, a joy to be around. I’m having the best time of my life with Angel.”

The Dream will next host the defending champion Las Vegas Aces at State Farm Arena on Sunday afternoon.
