Michael Rapaport says he’s running for NYC mayor against Mamdani in 2029

Michael Rapaport is doubling down on his plans to run for mayor of New York.
On Tuesday, the 60-year-old actor and comedian said he plans to enter the contest Mayor Zohran MamdaniKnown for its democratic socialist policies, 2029 is coming with its “New York City street fight mentality”.
“I never thought I’d even consider running for mayor of New York City, and I’m going to do it with the best of intentions and I’m not going to do it like no other political person has done it,” Rapaport told Chris Cuomo during an appearance on the show. “There’s no way to be nice to him. There’s no way to fool him. I think he’s the biggest bullshit in the history of politicians… and that’s saying a lot,” he continued. “But New York City needs to do something, we need to plan now because 2029 is right around the corner and yes, I am running for mayor of New York City and I will only drop out of the race until I feel like there is someone more qualified who can actually beat Zohran.”
““My bark is much louder than my bite,” he added. “There’s no way to outsmart this guy, no way to smile at this guy. This must be a dogfight. “It’s ugly, and that’s what I’m going to do in my campaign.”
The outspoken comedian, who has voiced his disdain for the Democratic mayor, first announced his plans to run for mayor in January.

“Let me tell you something guys, girls, women, kids of all ages. 2025 was crazy and I don’t see things getting any calmer or cooler in 2026 the way they started,” he continued. “That’s why I’m running for mayor.”

In addition to making the announcement on his podcast, Rapaport also said: instagram In the video sharing the news, he emphasized that he was “born and raised in New York.”

Last week, Rapaport called on New York’s governor to resign after anti-Israel protests got out of control outside a synagogue.

Representatives for Rapaport and Mamdani did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
