Nurse’s Kidnap Plot Ends In Arrest

The accused, 25-year-old Payam Mounika, was detained along with six gang members from Kothagudem. During interrogation, the 26-year-old revealed that she met Nikhil in a city bar and their friendship developed into a live-in relationship that lasted for more than a year. He collected financial details about her while they were living together. She later filed a cheating complaint against Nikhil at Gachibowli police station. Although a case was registered, Nikhil was released on bail due to lack of evidence.
Police said Mounika held a grudge after Nikhil broke off the relationship. He demanded money from her in exchange for dropping the case, but she refused. Enraged, he planned to kidnap her and extort money. He along with the gang kidnapped Nikhil’s friend Mahesh and businessman Sai Srikanth and extorted ₹ 13.60 lakh.
On Srikanth’s complaint, SI B. Srinivas and his team started an investigation. Amberpet resident Mounika and six others (bad chador Anwar Bhai, 60, Sunkari Prasad Doddi, 56, Mareneni Raju, 48, Kanakam Sudheer of Khammam, Nagaraju of Polkampally and John of Alwal) were arrested. Two others, Kanakam Mahesh of Khammam and Chandu of NBT Nagar, are still at large.
Fake weapons were seized from the suspects. Police said further investigations were ongoing and official word on the arrests was pending.
Old man died by jumping from apartment building in Trimulgherry
A 74-year-old man died after he allegedly jumped from the second floor of an apartment building at Trimulgherry junction on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as PR Rama Bhadran, a resident of Flat No. 101 in KP Homes in SP Colony, police said. Acting on a woman’s complaint, the police took the body to Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
During the initial investigation, the police considered the possibility that the old man, who was reported to have health problems, may have died by suicide. A case of suspicious death has been registered by Trimulgherry police and investigation is ongoing.
The body was handed over to family relatives for final arrangements.
Tension in Kulsumpura PS as theft suspect tries to set himself on fire
Mild tension prevailed at Kulsumpura police station on Wednesday after a suspect allegedly involved in multiple auto theft cases attempted to set himself alight inside the station premises.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Mohd Ishaq, was allegedly involved in several auto theft cases registered at Kulsumpura and other police stations in the city. Ishaq was arrested during a vehicle check drive on Tuesday night and brought to the police station for further investigation.
Police officials said that while going to the toilet on Wednesday morning, Ishaq grabbed a matchbox and tried to set fire to his shirt in an attempt to threaten police personnel.
The police who arrived at the scene immediately intervened and prevented the incident before it escalated further. The suspect was later taken to the police station and remains in police custody.
Further investigation is ongoing.
Suspended SI arrested for cheating on female police officer
Suspended sub-inspector Suresh Kumar was arrested for allegedly cheating and sexually harassing a woman constable on the pretext of marriage, Kukatpally police said on Wednesday.
2018 batch security guard Suresh Kumar was working at Kollur police station before his suspension. After the woman constable filed a complaint with the Kukatpally police, a case was registered against her.
Police said the constable claimed that Suresh Kumar had developed a relationship with her after she promised to marry him. The two had been in a relationship for several months.
When the woman started insisting on getting married, Suresh Kumar allegedly avoided the issue and made excuses. Later, there was a disagreement between them regarding marriage, police said.
After the constable refused to marry her, she approached the Kukatpally police and filed a complaint. The police filed a case alleging sexual harassment and cheating with false promises of marriage.
During the initial investigation, police tried to question Suresh Kumar but his mobile phones were switched off and he could not be reached. Authorities later suspended him based on evidence provided by the complainant.
Balanagar ACP Naresh Reddy said: “Based on a complaint filed by a woman police officer alleging sexual harassment by SI Suresh on false promises of marriage, a case was registered at Kukatpally police station. SI Suresh, who was taken into custody, was arrested and produced before the court on Wednesday.”
2 people died after a speeding car crashed into a bicycle in Nacharam
Dandugula Gangadhar, 41, and Jadupula Ganesh, 49, died when a speeding car crashed into their motorcycle near Swagath Convention Hall in Nacharam in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.
Gangadhar, a laborer from Bakshiguda Colony in ECIL, Meerpet, and Ganesh, a contractor from RTC Colony in Moula Ali, were busy in stone crushing work. Following a complaint by Gangadhar’s wife Radha, police said that the duo left home around 9 pm on Tuesday after receiving information that work-related materials had arrived at the site.
They were traveling on a two-wheeler from Shakti Sai Nagar towards Bell Company when the accident took place near Swagath Convention Hall around 12.30 am. Allegedly, a car accelerated and hit a motorcycle.
Both of them were seriously injured and were shifted to Srikara Hospital at ECIL by ambulance. Doctors declared Gangadhar dead around 12.35 am. Ganesh was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital for further treatment, where he died around 4.35 am.
Police said that the driver of the car left the vehicle at the scene and ran away. Nacharam police have registered a case and are investigating.
