Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka to begin from June 20; over 5.55 crore voters to be covered

Karnataka will begin the next phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls from June 20 and more than 5.55 crore voters will be covered. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the exercise will be conducted through a month-long house-to-house verification exercise by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from June 30.

The state is in Phase III of its nationwide revision program, which aims to update voter lists and ensure the accuracy of voter registrations ahead of upcoming elections. It was included in the phase.

Anbu Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka said: Hindu He said so far 86% of the mapping has been completed and the rest will be completed before the SIR implementation begins.

According to the program announced by ECI, preparatory work, training and printing of materials for Karnataka will be carried out between June 20 and June 29. House-to-house visits of BLOs will then take place between 30 June and 29 July. Rationalization of polling stations will be completed by July 29.

The draft Karnataka electoral roll will be published on August 5. Claims and objections can be made from 5 August to 4 September, and the evaluation of claims and objections will continue until 3 October. The final voter roll is scheduled to be published on October 7.
