Cats veteran Patrick Dangerfield played the game with a hand injury and his post-game handshake looked particularly painful for Geelong.
Dangerfield believes he will be fine for next week’s game against Sydney, but he was clearly grimacing and his hand was swollen.
Dangerfield also said he believed players were playing longer because of advances in sports science and clubs wanting to retain players for longer.
“I don’t think it’s a mental thing as the players are already incredibly mentally strong in that regard,” Dangerfield told Kayo Sports.
“The understanding in sports science is that you can push players for longer periods of time. [has made the difference].
“In previous eras you’d get to 30 and be almost written off. I think there’s no talent left untapped anymore, so clubs have realized they want to get the best out of the players they have.”
