Delta soars to Eurovision stardom in sparkling form

Delta Goodrem sang for Australia in the second Eurovision semi-final, playing a glittering gold piano as she performed her song Eclipse.
The singer and former Neighbors star, who is arguably the best-known artist at the 2026 singing competition, was accompanied by a harpist.
As her performance reached its climax, Goodrem rose into the air from atop her piano.
Entries from the UK and host Austria, who qualified for the final, also took to the stage on Thursday evening (Friday morning AEST).
The song contest, traditionally a good-natured celebration of pop music and high camp, has been marred by controversy, with many countries boycotting Israel’s participation.
Public broadcasters of five countries (Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland and Slovenia) oppose Israeli intervention due to Israel’s military attack on the Gaza Strip in response to the Hamas-led offensive on October 7, 2023.
The Eurovision final takes place on Sunday morning AEST.

Singers from the so-called “big four” – England, Germany, Italy and France – automatically qualified for the final, while their broadcasters were the biggest financial contributors to Eurovision.
Australian fans Naomi and Justine from Tasmania arrived at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle venue on Thursday with high expectations.
“He’s known everywhere so he’s got a good chance, we think we’ve made it to the final and hopefully we’ll be on the left side of the board,” Justine said.
Goodrem released the single Eclipse in March, which reached No. 1 on the Australian AIR Independent Singles Chart.
