Rousey vs Carano: Fighter, trailblazer, promoter – welcome to the Ronda Rousey show

The event is promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and will be streamed live on Netflix.
It also features former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou facing Philipe Lins and fan favorite Nate Diaz facing Mike Perry.
Nakisa Bidarian, who co-founded MVP with Paul, likens the event to Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson in 2024, which was the first boxing contest to be streamed live on Netflix and laid the groundwork for future events on the platform.
Rousey not only headlines the card, but also plays a key role in shaping it, playing the role of promoter and matchmaker behind the scenes.
This isn’t just a Ronda Rousey fight, it’s the Ronda Rousey show.
“His quote was: ‘I can’t be your Conor [McGregor]But I can be your Dana [White]’ said Bidarian.
“He has demonstrated his ability to take ownership of the promotion, deliver incredible, engaging content, and most importantly, he loves the game.
“He’ll text me 20, 30 times every other day about certain fighters or certain fights and tell me why this fight is going to be great.”
Rousey criticized how much the UFC pays its fighters and said she wants to help “challenge the monolith.”
In the UFC, less than 20% of revenue goes towards fighter salaries, while in boxing, fighters can expect to receive 60% of event revenue.
Bidarian said the minimum payout for each fighter on the card before performance-based bonuses would be $40,000 (£28,800).
In comparison, the UFC pays its entry-level fighters around $12,000 (£8,960) to $20,000 (£14,900) plus performance-based bonuses.
“It’s so much more meaningful now because before it was affecting our careers, but now it’s affecting the future of the sport,” Rousey said.
“It has become bigger than us.
“It’s about giving them back their power and reminding people that it’s about the warriors.”
