Athena has been one of the most dominant champions in professional wrestling, and that dominance continued Friday night at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event.

The Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship was open to elimination in a Survival of the Fittest six-way match. Athena was supposed to outlast Billie Starkz, Maya World, Trish Adora, Yuka Sakazaki, and Zayda Steel. Chairs, ladders and other foreign objects were entering the match throughout the night.

Even though Athena eliminated Steel early, defeating her other opponents was not an easy task. Athena found herself in a dangerous situation. The contestants stacked chairs on top of each other and Adora took advantage of them. He strangled Athena during the match.

Sakazaki did his best to defeat Athena.

Athena was laid out on a table. Instead of going to the top turnbuckle for a splash, Sakazaki leapt over the rope in the middle of the ring and hit the Magical Girl Splash onto Athena and through the table.

Athena was still hesitant.

Athena had to climb a ladder about 10 feet up. He threw it and hit the Earth with O-Face. He then completed the final elimination by pinning World.

Athena has spent 1,253 days as the Ring of Honor women’s world champion.

HE I told Fightful He said earlier in the week that his goal was to surpass Bruno Sammartino’s championship reign. At the peak of his career, the legendary professional wrestler held the WWWF World Heavyweight Championship for 2,803 days.

“Hey man, when we get to Supercard of Honor this week and I beat the epic Roman Reigns in his final title run, I want you to know I’m going to be very petty,” he said. “I want everyone to know we’re going to have the smallest celebration ever. Kittens, green apple skittles, whiskey, tequila, you name it. But we’re going to have a big buffet party. We’re going to cook. It’s going to be amazing.”

“But like I said before, my goal is Bruno Sammartino. Seven years, baby, seven years. But you know, what are years when you’re a ‘forever champion’? What are years? A lot of people think that’s getting ahead of me. But after all, I’ve been a champion for a long time; what’s 1,250 days or so? I don’t see that anytime soon.”

“Damn, all the girls in this match think they’re learning something by experiencing Athena, but I’m always changing, always improving. I’ve always been that way, and there will never be anyone harder than me. Like I said before, I’ll say it again, no man can touch my reign, no woman can keep my legacy alive. I’m the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion forever. It’s time to move on from this.”

It’s clear that “Champion Forever” is focused on being just that.
