Newscast – Q+A: Burnham Says He’d Save Labour, But Can He Win Makersfield?

Available for more than a year
Today we look at two Labor leadership candidates setting out their visions for the UK ahead of the Labor leadership contest, which has not yet started. Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham told the BBC he would ‘save’ Labor and Wes Streeting confirmed he would run if there was a formal challenge to Keir Starmer. In order for Burnham to be a candidate for the leadership and therefore the Prime Minister, he must first win the Makersfield by-election. Laura and Paddy answer Newscasters’ questions on the topic and look at a potential cautionary tale about a by-election in 1965. You can now listen to the News broadcast on a smart speaker.
