Bruno Fernandes equals Premier League assists record – what do the stats say?

This time last year there was a real debate about whether Bruno Fernandes and United would be better off accepting a big offer from Al-Hilal and using the money to strengthen their squad.
United eventually left it up to Fernandes to decide, and after his wife asked if he had achieved everything he wanted at Old Trafford, he decided to stay.
The club’s hierarchy should thank Ms. Fernandes at the end of this season.
No one knows what the alternative reality will be, but it’s hard to imagine anyone equaling Fernandes’ contribution this season.
By the end of the season equalizing the Premier League’s seasonal assist record clearly became more important, but following the arrival of Michael Carrick, Fernandes came to the fore as the season went south and could have gone one way or the other.
His contribution of 16 goals in 15 matches took United to the Champions League and opened the door to a bright future. If Fernandes wasn’t there, would it be possible for someone else to reach those numbers?
When the FWA Player of the Year award was questioned, it was argued that Arsenal were the better team and that the winner should have been from their squad.
The truth is that no player this season has done more to lift his team.
Fernandes’ future at United is still to be resolved. He has another game next week in Brighton where he will break the assist record.
How right would it be for Fernandes to take the record on his own, in addition to staying at the club in terms of the end of the season.
