Two jets crashed during the second day of the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho on Sunday, according to local reports and witnesses, prompting a lockdown of the facility.
“An aircraft incident occurred at Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show three miles northwest of the base,” Mountain Home Gunfighters said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“Emergency responders are on scene, an investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available,” the statement said. The statement was included.
Videos posted on social media showed the two jets colliding in the air before four parachutes opened. The plane then crashes to the ground before exploding, sending thick black smoke into the air.

David Katz, who attended the air show with his family, told Fox News Digital that he witnessed two planes collide, then one of them caught fire.
“We saw the smoke and the fireball,” Katz said. “Apparently they crashed there. One of the planes crashed and started burning in the air.”

Katz said that while he was in a vehicle with his two sons, they saw four parachutes open from the plane, two from each plane.
He added that as emergency crews rushed to the crash site, bystanders were trying to determine whether the pilots got out safely.

“Fire crews are flying past us right now,” Katz told Fox News Digital.
KTVB reported that witnesses saw two jets crash during the demonstration and shared videos showing a large cloud of black smoke rising near the base. The station also reported that law enforcement and emergency crews responded to the scene, while authorities were working to gather more information.
