‘Selfish’ Mohamed Salah should be dropped from Anfield finale – Wayne Rooney..

Salah, who announced his decision to leave Anfield in March, told reporters in December that his relationship with coach Slot had deteriorated.
The winger, who has won four Premier League Golden Boot awards, scored 29 goals in the 2024-25 Premier League as the Reds won the title in his first season in charge of Slot.
However, he could not reach the heights of last term and found the net just 12 times in 40 matches in a season in which the reigning champions were in fifth place in the Premier League.
“I think Salah is trying to justify himself and feel better because he’s had such a bad season,” Rooney said.
“So I think he was very selfish in what he did on both occasions. It’s a shame and the fans will be on his side, but when you look deeper and you’re faced with a similar situation in the dressing room I think Mo Salah knew exactly what he was doing.”
“That’s your manager. You can’t disrespect him twice publicly and get away with it. That’s where if I were Arne Slot, I’d pull up my rank and just say, listen, you’re not coming anywhere near this venue on Saturday, whether you want to or not. I really doubt he’ll do that, but I think he should.
“Of course he deserves a good send-off, but does he deserve it for that alone? This is the second time he’s done it. It’s a real shame to see one of the great icons of Premier League players possibly leaving the Premier League in this situation.”
