Consultancy Dupes Youths in Rs 5 Crore Overseas Job Scam
Hyderabad: A major job scam has come to light in Hafeezpet after a consultancy firm allegedly duped unemployed individuals with promises of jobs abroad and collected lakhs from each victim.
According to reports, the three persons, Archana Priya, Somasekhar and Rajendra Prasad, were jointly running a business consultancy in Hafeezpet under Miyapur Police Station limits. Police said the accused persuaded job seekers to get job placements abroad and collected around Rs 6 lakh from each candidate. At least 90 people reportedly paid more than 5 Crore rupees to them.
The operators took many job seekers to Egypt and guaranteed them employment in Egypt and Israel. Once in Egypt, the accused stopped responding to calls and forced the victims to return to India at their own expense.
When the victims later visited the Hafeezpet office, they found it locked. Those who realized that they had been defrauded contacted the police. Based on the complaint, Miyapur police filed a case and launched an investigation. All three are currently on the run and special teams have reportedly begun a search operation to find them. Authorities suspect the number of victims may be higher and are collecting details from affected candidates to confirm the extent of the scam.
