Bill Belichick accuses CBS of deceitful reporting over edited interview

Eight-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick accused CBS of being deceptive in an interview that made headlines in 2025 when girlfriend Jordon Hudson refused to answer a question about their relationship.

“I thought the interview I did with them was very deceptive,” the football legend said in a new episode of “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” that will air Tuesday morning. “I asked them for a transcript, but they didn’t give me a transcript.”

In a 2025 interview with “CBS News Sunday Morning,” Hudson said Belichick “didn’t talk about it” when host Tony Dokoupil asked him how he met the New England Patriots icon.

Hudson, who was watching the interview from a side corner, reportedly interrupted the interview several times and even stormed off at one point, delaying the interview by about 30 minutes. The interview, which aired on CBS, fueled much criticism of Hudson.

CBS’ DISPUTE WITH BILL BELICHICK

Belichick responded to critics by saying he agreed to talk to “CBS Sunday Morning” about his memoir, “The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football,” adding that it was reported the interview would focus solely on the book. He said his girlfriend didn’t “lead” the relationship question, but instead tried to steer the interview to stay on topic. He claimed that the network was creating a “false narrative” by airing “selectively edited clips.”

“Some clips make it seem like we’re dodging the question of how we met, but we make clear the fact that Jordan and I met on a plane to Palm Beach in 2021,” he said in a statement at the time of the controversy.

Belichick told Fox News host Sean Hannity on “Hang Out” that he “couldn’t believe” the journalistic conduct of CBS, which has been considered a reliable news network throughout its long history.

“I’m a little confused about some of the things they’re saying, but I don’t really see them living up to the full confidence that they’re talking about,” he said.

The relationship between Belichick, 74, and former beauty pageant contestant Hudson, 25, was first made public in 2024.

Belichick noted on “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” that criticism of CBS News’ editing and allegations of hesitancy to provide interview transcripts were not exceptional. CBS has faced similar controversies in the past, including interviews with former Vice President Kamala Harris and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“They’ve done this with others, I’m not really sure what that policy is,” he said.

“As we’ve seen lately, there have been more regulatory issues, and they’re based on multiple instances of regulation over several years,” Belichick added.

Fox News Digital has reached out to CBS News for comment. CBS defended the interview when uproar broke out over the Belichick broadcast last year.

“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for an in-depth interview,” CBS said in a statement. “There were no preconditions or restrictions on this interview. This was confirmed multiple times with his publisher before the interview was conducted and after it was completed.”
