Older woman in hospital after being struck at intersection
A woman in her 70s who was hit by a police vehicle was seriously injured.
Police said the woman was walking at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Lily Street in Cairns around 7am on Thursday when she was struck by the car.
He suffered life-threatening injuries.
The officers in the vehicle immediately gave first aid to the woman.
The woman was later treated by paramedics and transported to Cairns Hospital.
Police closed Lily Street between Digger Street and Sheridan Street.
