Caitlin Clark injury reporting sparks WNBA warning to Fever

The WNBA warned the Indiana Fever on Thursday against reporting Caitlin Clark’s injury status ahead of their game against the Portland Fire.

The Fever announced Clark’s injury two hours before tipoff on Wednesday. He was not listed on the team’s injury report because he did not practice the day before.

The league requires teams to list injured players in a report by 5 p.m. the night before the game is played. The team is expected to update the injury report if a player’s condition changes overnight or early in the day. The mishap led to the warning, the league said in a statement to the Associated Press.

Clark is listed as probable for the Fever’s home game against the Golden State Valkyries

The superstar’s 2025 season has been marred by numerous injuries. He suffered once more before the All-Star break, and then again during rehab.

He mentioned a problem that has already persisted this season. He said his back “knocked out of line pretty quickly” after the team’s opening loss.

Clark has been back to peak performance since returning to the field.

He averaged 24.3 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds in the first four games he played.
