City To Have 4 New Dumpyards; Jawaharnagar To Reduce Volume

Hyderabad:In addition to Jawaharnagar, where 10,000 metric tonnes of waste is dumped every day, another landfill will be opened across the city. The decision was taken after an all-party delegation visited the Jawaharnagar garbage dump on Friday. Once new landfills are established, the volume of waste dumped in Jawaharnagar will reduce significantly.

Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajendar, Medchal MLA, Chamakura Malla Reddy, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy, members of Re Sustainability Ltd (RE), formerly Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd, visited the Jawaharnagar dump site on Friday and collected information about waste management protocols and pollution control measures.

The delegation expressed serious displeasure over the improper functioning of the sewage treatment plant installed to reduce water pollution in Jawaharnagar. They also expressed their anger towards RE, highlighting the difficulties faced by local people.

They suggested that using CSR funds to develop facilities would yield better results and noted that currently only a small portion of these funds had been spent. Following a shortage of funds, local people are left without access to safe drinking water and adequate medical facilities.

It was decided that MPs, government officials and RE representatives would hold another meeting to prepare a comprehensive report and submit it to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
