Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury’s record-breaking match highlights AFL and Super Netball matches that could be affected by major train disruptions this weekend.

No trains will pass through the Metro Tunnel from Friday night until the last service on Sunday evening, and only the Frankston line, which operates nine trains per hour, will pass through the City Loop.

Metro Trains has warned fans heading to sporting events, particularly Saturday’s Collingwood-West Coast game at the MCG, that they should plan ahead and, as always, know what’s going on.

“The AFL is encouraging people to come at their leisure as it will be a big crowd and a busy time on Saturday, which we are reiterating,” said Tim Clare, managing director of DTV’s V/Line and Southern Cross.

“Allow plenty of extra time to get to the football or destination you need to know. Please use the trip planner and find out where you need to get off.”
