Mohamed Salah sends message to Arne Slot and Liverpool team-mates – as departing star warns ‘it is the worst club in the world when you lose’

‘You better win next year’ Mohamed Salah told Liverpool boss Arne Slot and his teammates ahead of his final game for the club on Sunday.
Salah is set to bring the curtain down on a spectacular, record-breaking nine-year career at Anfield, where he is the club’s third all-time top scorer with 255 goals.
The Egyptian star and Andy Robertson will take to the field after Liverpool’s home game against Brentford at Anfield.
Both Salah and Robertson were given gifts at the Reds’ training ground before the last game, with Slot addressing the pair.
While the duo had their own speeches before leaving, Salah also expressed his feelings before leaving the club.
“I don’t want to be emotional today because tomorrow will be an emotional day,” Salah said.

‘But I really appreciate every moment I spent at this club.
‘I had a great time with you all and it’s something I’ll take with me into the future, so thank you so much. I hope we see you again soon.’
After Robertson spoke, Salah quickly jumped in to add a final message to Slot and his teammates.
“Wait, there’s something else I want to say,” Salah said.
‘Being at Liverpool, winning for Liverpool and winning games is the best thing that can happen to you.
‘I think this is the best club in the world when you win something and the worst club in the world when you lose.
‘So you better win next year.’
Slot, who led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season, was under pressure after an underwhelming season.
While the Reds were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and FA Cup, they are in fifth place in the Premier League heading into the last day.
Salah caused controversy last week with a social media post that appeared to target Slot as he called for the return of Jurgen Klopp’s ‘heavy metal football’.
He wrote: ‘I have witnessed this club transform from skeptics to believers and from believers to champions. I had to work hard and always did everything I could to help the club get there.

‘Nothing could make me prouder than this. It was very painful that we were devastated by another defeat this season and our fans did not deserve it.
‘I want to see Liverpool get back to the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and the cup-winning team.
‘This is the football I know how to play and the identity that needs to be saved and preserved forever. This is non-negotiable and everyone who joins this club must comply.
“Winning some games here is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
‘Liverpool will always be a club that means a lot to me and my family. I want to see you succeed long after you move on. ‘As I have always said, qualifying for next season’s Champions League is a bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.’
Slot said on Friday that he will only remember the goal machine version of Salah despite their disagreements this season.
‘He said the most special thing I achieved 100 percent last season was the Premier League championship last season,’ he said.
‘I can now safely say that this is the most special thing I have ever won in my life, so I will remember that and how important he was for the club that season and therefore for me too with all the goals he scored.’
