Optus outage in South Australia sparks police warning of 000 outage

Another Optus outage prevented people from calling triple-0.

South Australian Police warned the public on Sunday morning that the outage was affecting people in the Angaston area, 60km north-east of Adelaide.

“An equipment fault is affecting mobile voice and data services which may impact calls to triple-0,” a police spokesman said.

“Optus technicians are working on site to resolve the issue.

“If you are in an emergency situation and don’t have cell phone coverage, seek immediate help from neighbors, local emergency services, Wi-Fi calling, or community support networks.”

The initial warning from the telco stated that multiple Optus towers in the Angaston area could be affected, but an updated warning has narrowed down the scope of the problem.

“There is an issue with one of our mobile towers in this area,” an updated alert reads.

“We are working hard to fix the issue. Your mobile service may experience some issues until we resolve it. Thank you for being patient with us.”
