Central University of Rajasthan launches research promotion scheme for scholars

In a student-centric initiative, the Central University of Rajasthan (CUoR) has launched a new research incentive program to financially empower academics and encourage them to conduct quality research without financial stress. Admitted research scholars from the 2025 academic session onwards will be eligible to enjoy the benefits of the programme.
Under the scheme, research scholars will receive additional financial support of ₹ 5,000 per month in addition to the existing non-National Eligibility Test (NET) grant from the University Grants Commission (UGC). An additional emergency grant of ₹10,000 will also be provided to support research-related expenses.
CUoR Vice-Chancellor Anand Bhalerao said on Saturday, May 24, 2026, that the amount of non-NET scholarships currently disbursed is generally found to be insufficient for scholars to effectively meet their academic and daily needs. Prof. “The new initiative will attract meritorious students to research and foster a strong culture of innovation and academic excellence,” Bhalerao said.
Research scholars will continue to receive the existing non-NET stipend of ₹ 8,000 per month during the course, while eligible scholars will receive additional support of ₹ 5,000 from the second semester onwards. Continuation of support from the third semester will be determined based on the annual progress assessment conducted at the beginning of the second, third and fourth year of the doctoral program. program.
Located at Bandar Sindri in Ajmer district, CUoR will introduce a structured mechanism to monitor the eligibility and evaluation process under the scheme, which will benefit academics who have attended the university for at least three years. Prof. Bhalerao said investing in research scholars would be an investment in the future of knowledge, innovation and nation-building.
