Woman Claims Groom Promised to Marry Her
During initial investigation, police found that the bride, a resident of Patwadh Kautuk, was engaged to Brijesh Kumar, a resident of Gadhwal village, who was reportedly working abroad.
The wedding procession had arrived on Friday evening and while the celebrations and rituals were going on, another woman arrived at the scene accompanied by police personnel from a village in Raunapar police station area. The woman claimed that the groom had been in a relationship with her for a long time and had promised to marry her, leading to a heated conflict between the two families.
Bride’s Family Claims Marriage Already Fixed
According to the bride’s family, all wedding ceremonies had been completed before the dispute arose. They stated that the marriage was fixed about 1.5 years ago and that the couple had an official marriage before.
The family said the ceremony was being held at this time because the groom had recently returned home on leave from abroad.
Family Says the Woman Had Received Threats Before
The bride’s family also alleged that the same woman visited their home three days ago and allegedly threatened to stop the wedding.
They said the groom’s family was informed of the issue at the time and assured that there would be no problems.
