Teen left with serious chest and face injuries after machete attack | UK | News

A teenager was seriously injured in the chest and face “during violence involving a group of people with machetes” in Dudley.

West Midlands Police said a 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after violence broke out in Duncan Edwards Close just before 2pm yesterday (Saturday, May 23).

It is believed that he was approached by two young men on a motorcycle while he was walking in the area. They attacked him before escaping. Police also said the man suffered serious injuries to his chest and face and underwent surgery.

The force has obtained CCTV and mobile phone footage and launched an appeal asking for the public’s help to help identify and arrest those involved.

Det Insp Joe Davenport, from our Major Crime Unit, said: “This was a horrific attack in the middle of the day and could have easily resulted in the loss of this child’s life.

“We have been working tirelessly since then to understand exactly what happened and who was responsible and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can contact the force on 101, quoting log 2561 of 23 May. A spokesman for West Midlands Police also said there would be extra patrols in the area today (Sunday, May 24).
