Iran nuclear deal can’t be done ‘in 72 hours,’ Rubio tells NYT

New Delhi: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told The New York Times on Sunday that a deal with Iran has garnered regional support but a nuclear deal cannot be achieved “in 72 hours behind a napkin”.
His comments came after US President Donald Trump told his negotiators “not to rush to a deal” to end the three-month war with Iran.

“We’re not putting it off until later. Nuclear talks are extremely technical issues. You can’t do something nuclear behind a napkin in 72 hours,” Rubio said in a brief interview with the Times.
“So there are currently seven or eight countries in the region that support this approach, and we are ready to move forward with this approach,” he said.
