CRIME SCENE: Man sought after Toronto dog attack ID’d

Toronto Police have identified a suspect after two unleashed dogs attacked someone during an argument near Baldwin Village earlier this month.

Around 3:35 p.m. on July 3, in the Huron and Baldwin Sts. area, police said a man was walking three dogs but only one was on a leash. The man got into an argument with someone — who police did not describe — and the two unleashed dogs then “charged and attacked the victim,” who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The dogs were described as two black and one brown, possibly pit bull terriers or a similar breed.

Police released images of the suspect and on Tuesday, cops announced that Christian Iraheta-Sorto, 38, of Toronto, is wanted for criminal negligence causing bodily harm under the Criminal Code, as well as two counts each of dog unlawfully at large, dog bite a person, and fail to prevent dog from biting or attacking, all under the Dog Owners’ Liability Act.

ALLEGED DRUG TRAFFICKER BUSTED

“Suspicious behaviour involving two vehicles in a commercial parking lot” in Hamilton led to the arrest of a man for alleged drug trafficking.

On July 18, Hamilton Police officers were in the area of Fennell Ave. E. when they spotted the vehicles. After continued surveillance and investigation, members of the Hamilton Police High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) arrested Wayne Ireland, 45, of Hamilton.

A search of the accused and his vehicle allegedly led to the seizure of hydromorphone capsules and pills, OxyContin pills, Canadian currency totalling more than $2,500, and multiple mobile devices.

Ireland is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (opioids) and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

TRIO SOUGHT IN RANGE ROVER CARJACKING

Three males are sought after a victim was robbed of their Range Rover in Richmond Hill on Monday.

York Regional Police say that around 4:30 p.m., the victim was parking their Range Rover at a residence in the Gordon Rowe Cres. and Fern Ave. area when “they were approached by two suspects who forcibly stole the victim’s keys and cellphone.”

The thugs — described as having light skin and wearing black hooded sweaters, black pants, and blue face masks — fled the scene in the SUV, “accompanied by a third suspect driving a black sedan.”

The victim was not injured.

MAN KNOWN TO COPS HUNTED

Toronto cops are looking for a man wanted for two counts of fail to comply with release order after an alleged assault on the weekend.

On Sunday around 4:30 p.m., police allege “the suspect grabbed the victim’s phone and broke it” and then stole their keys. He fled before police arrived.

In addition to the fail to comply, Lukas Simonic, 35, of Toronto, is wanted for mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
