Tributes to all three men killed in two car crash in Sydney’s south

The rideshare driver who died in a triple-fatal crash in Sydney was also working as a disability support worker.

Details are emerging of three men killed in a crash in Sydney’s south on Saturday.

Shoaib Hussain, 22, was on his way to an Uber when his car was violently hit by another vehicle in Sans Souci in the early hours of Saturday.

Naseem Naqvi of Auspak Youth Association told the media that Mr Hussain drove for a ride-sharing operator and worked as a disability support worker to support his family in Pakistan.

“He was a very, very kind person, a very hard worker,” Mr. Naqvi said.

“At the same time, she was studying and working as a disabled social worker.”

On social media at the Pakistan Community organization in Australia, members are pushing to raise funds for Mr Hussain’s family.

“Please arrange funds on GoFundMe. The full amount can be arranged within a day or two so we can send the body back to Pakistan. At least his parents should be able to see him one last time,” one person posted.

Another Australian-Pakistani community member expressed sadness that the young man died while trying to send money to his family.

“It’s really sad! My brother left this world while earning halal sustenance for himself and his family. May God grant him the highest degrees in heaven. Amen!”

Qasim Malik, from the Pakistan Community organization in Australia, said: “Today we lost our dear friend Shoaib Hussain in a tragic road accident last night.

“Please read Surah Fatiha and include him in your prayers. May Allah grant him the highest rank in heaven and give strength and patience to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The person referred by Mr Hussain was Seamus Duignan, who had just gone to a concert to celebrate his 28th birthday. The Toyota Camry they were in was hit by an Audi driven by 42-year-old Tamati Gilbert.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday, just minutes after police attempted to check Mr Gilbert’s mental health. He sped away from police and about 10 minutes later, he lost control of the car and crashed into a concrete barrier, overturning and landing on top of the Toyota.

Mr Duignan’s mother told the Daily Telegraph she wanted the circumstances of the crash to be fully investigated.

“There needs to be a comprehensive investigation into what caused this accident,” he said.

“I don’t want any other parent to have to go through this.”

His brother shared: “Absolutely devastating news, relax little brother, he can’t believe his life going (sic) wasn’t fair.

“I will love you forever, sea mouse.”

Mr Duignan was at a concert by a US metal band earlier that night, and a member of the band posted a tribute online.

Condolences and memories are also shared for Audi driver Mr Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert’s sister said in a post on Sunday that she was “heartbroken” by his death.

“We are absolutely devastated, heartbroken and shaken by his premature passing,” he said.

Another person wrote: “We will always remember T’s big smile and sense of humor, his spirit will live on.

“Your laughter is the one thing I will remember; always being quick to respond to any question with a cheeky answer with a smile and a giggle. You are loved my friend and you left us with the best memories. Rest easy brother.”

Detective Acting Superintendent Graham Hibbs also offered his condolences to the families of the three men.

“We are truly sorry for the families and loved ones of all three people involved in this incident,” he said.

Inspector Hibbs said nearby motorists and residents rushed to the “horrifying scene” to help.

“I don’t think there were many cars on the road at the time and it was extremely unlucky for the people involved.”

Police are investigating whether “considerable speed” was a factor in the crash and whether Mr Gilbert was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
