Body of missing teenager, 15, found by police in lake | UK | News

Police have released a tragic development following the search for a 15-year-old boy who went missing after going into the water at Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln.

Declan Sawyer’s body was found by Lincolnshire Police’s dive team on Sunday evening, May 24.

Police teams were called to the scene at 14.30 in the afternoon after reports that a child was having difficulty in the water.

Police said: “Our thoughts are with his family and we offer our condolences at this incredibly difficult time.

“This is a very sad incident and will undoubtedly affect many of Declan’s friends and the local community.”

Officers added that with the start of the semester break, they called on everyone who needs support to reach out for help.

The spokesman said: “As we start half-term week, we want everyone in our community affected to feel confident that they are looked after and people are encouraged to get help and support where they need it.

“We once again respectfully ask people not to speculate or share information that does not come from an official source, as misinformation can be very upsetting to family and friends.”

Emergency services, including the Underwater Search Team, assisted in the operation.

The venue has remained closed since the teenager’s disappearance and people have been urged to avoid the area.
