Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav said Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a pioneer State in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the fields of medicine and healthcare.

Participating in the grand finale of the MedTech Innovation Competition held in Mangalagiri on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the Minister promoted artificial intelligence-based diagnostic tests and stated that they not only provide accurate results but also increase the speed of delivery of healthcare services and make these tests affordable for people.

The department had launched the MedTech challenge in November 2025, along with Ratan Tata Innovation Center and AP Innovation Community, to identify, evaluate and integrate innovative medical technologies that improve healthcare efficiency and access.

Of the 297 applications submitted by researchers and innovators, 18 were shortlisted to showcase their technologies, spread across four categories, at government hospitals across the state. On Tuesday, the Minister presented cash prizes to winners in each category and also awarded certificates of appreciation to start-ups that delivered the best results.

Describing this as an important development in the field of health and medicine, the Minister said that artificial intelligence can create revolutionary changes in the agriculture, education and social development sectors, but an implementation strategy must be in place.

National Health Authority Joint Secretary Kiran Gopal, Swasth Alliance founder Shiv Kumar, State Health Minister Saurabh Gaur, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner G. Veerapandian, Secondary Health Director KVN Chakradhara Babu and other officials attended the programme.

The winners are: Solicit Technologies (AI-Assisted Diagnostics category), Remidio Innovative Solutions Pvt Ltd (Portable Point-of-Care Testing category), CareNX Innovations (Smart Monitoring and Wearables category), Rejuven India in the Remote Care and Telemedicine category.

Mr. Veerapandian also revealed details of eight other companies that won first and second place in four categories.
