Rahul Gandhi demands judicial inquiry, SIT to unearth truth behind ‘scam’ amid CBSE row

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) said the CBSE exam results were marred by “massive irregularities” and demanded an independent judicial inquiry and formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unravel the truth behind the “entire scam”.
Mr. Gandhi posed questions to the government, asking why the CBSE contract was given to COEMPT, which was previously embroiled in controversies while operating as Globarena.

He also asked what exactly was the nature of the relationship between the COEMPT management and the Modi government.
“CBSE exam results were marred by massive irregularities, leaving millions of students across the country along with their parents in shock,” Mr Gandhi said in his Hindi post. X.
“And (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji? As usual – no answers, no accountability and no shame,” the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.

Mr. Gandhi alleged that the company to which this responsibility was given (COEMPT) had earlier committed the same crimes in 2019 by operating under the name ‘Globarena’ in Telangana.
The name has changed but the purpose remains the same; He said that nature remains unchanged.
Mr Gandhi claimed the history of this was a matter of public record but the contract was awarded regardless.
The future of 1.85 million students was handed over to such a company, and yet, no one seemed to care, he said, adding “this is not a mistake – it is a calculated conspiracy”.
“There are some critical questions that require answers: Why was the CBSE contract awarded to COEMPT and on whose orders? What specific rules and procedures were bypassed to award this contract to this company? How did CBSE remain unaware of this, given that COEMPT was previously embroiled in controversies while operating as Globarena? Why were background checks not done? What exactly is the nature of the relationship between the COEMPT management and the Modi government?” Asking questions to the government, Mr. Gandhi said:
“We demand immediate formation of an independent judicial inquiry and Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unravel the truth behind this entire scam and unearth the real culprits,” the former Congress chief said. he said.

“To our Gen Z friends who are appearing for CBSE exams; no one will steal the fruits of your hard work or your future. We will get to the bottom of this conspiracy and root out this corruption,” Mr. Gandhi said.
He also made a video statement demanding a judicial inquiry and SIT to bring out the truth.
The Congress on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, launched a scathing attack on the government over CBSE’s Screen Marking (OSM) system issue and said: “Mantri Pradhan his insistence on remaining in his office and “it is shameful that Pradhan Mantri protects him”.
The opposition party also reiterated its demand for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign immediately.
The controversy further escalated when some Class 12 students alleged that there were marking discrepancies and that scanned copies of answer sheets uploaded by the board did not match their handwriting, raising concerns about possible answer sheet mismatch in the OSM system.
CBSE sources said the board is addressing all complaints on priority.
