Super Bowl champion and Pittsburgh Steelers legend Jerome Bettis weighed in on the widespread talk of Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter.
Dart introduced President Donald Trump before his speech in Suffern, New York, on Friday, and New York Giants teammate Abdul Carter disagreed. Bettis said they don’t have to agree on their political views, but they need to find a way to work together.
“You don’t have to agree. That’s the important thing. I mean, you disagree with your teammate, but you have to find a way to work with them, and I think that’s what happens,” Bettis told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.

Bettis said Dart and Carter need to find common ground.
“I think the politics are always there. It’s never at the forefront in terms of the sport or the locker room. So I don’t think it’s a problem. But what you’ve got to do is find common ground. I think that’s what team sports are all about,” Bettis said.
“People from different walks of life are all coming together for a common goal. And you all need to find common ground with each other to support that goal.”
Carter and Dart apparently found common ground to clear up a potential falling out, with Carter posting a now-deleted tweet to X stating that they were “fine.”
“Me and JD6 are good! We’ve talked as Men before,” Carter wrote. “You can all keep your narratives.”

Dart, 23, set the stage for Trump’s speech with a chant before inviting the president to the stage.
“Big Blue Nation, it’s a pleasure to be here. I have to start this with ‘Go Big Blue,'” Dart said, then led the chant for several minutes before moving on to introduce Trump.
“What an honor, what a privilege to be here, and without further ado, I am grateful, honored, pleased to introduce President Donald J. Trump, the 45th and 47th president of the United States.”
Trump and Dart shook hands onstage before the 23-year-old actor left.
Carter responded by reposting a video of Dart promoting Trump on X and tweeting, “I thought this was AI, what we do man.” He later deleted the tweet.
Bettis played from 1993-2005 and said politics wasn’t an issue during his time in the NFL. He noted that the political climate has changed greatly in the last 20 years since his retirement.
“No, it never did (cause a problem). But you have to understand that the landscape of politics right now is very divisive. And I think 20 years ago it was very different than it is now. Now everybody’s picking sides, this and that, and now you hate the other guy’s side. And it was never like that in politics 20 years ago. Hey, you respected the guy’s decision and his politics were his politics, and now it’s a very different dynamic that politics is a burden on people these days.” said Bettis.

American Century Championship
Bettis will play in the American Century Tournament at Edgewood Golf Course in Lake Tahoe from July 10-12.
The tournament raised more than $8 million for regional and national charities. American Century Investments donates 40% of its profits to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and activates tournament fundraisers to raise money directly for Stowers each year.
Bettis has been a long-time competitor in the tournament since retiring in 2006. He said it was “incredible” to see the event grow over the years.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer said he’s still trying to stay in shape for the tournament. Bettis said he was trying out a new swing and was wondering how it would hold up.

Bettis said his favorite part of the tournament was interacting with the athletes and having fun with the players.
“I think my favorite part is breaking it up with the athletes, because obviously being retired you don’t get a chance to do that anymore. And so when you get a chance to have fun with the guys again and have fun with the ribs, like the locker room experience, it’s really fun and exciting,” Bettis said.
The tournament will air on NBC and Peacock.
